For years Travis Lutter has been plagued by neck injuries. It?s an issue that?s slowed down the work ethic of Lutter on multiple occasions, and it?s a serious enough issue that he may walk away from his career earlier than expected.

Lutter recently spoke with the good folks over at Sherdog and elaborated on the issues he?s been having. All of which revolve around a jiu-jitsu match that happened a decade ago in which Lutter was dropped on his head. He now deals with four bulging discs, bone spurs and narrowing of the nerve canals in his neck.

?That?s probably the scariest thing I?ve got going on. The nerve passages control everything in your body. If they get too squished, you could have atrophy and motor function loss. The other thing is those passageways, since they?re narrower, they don?t have to have as much inflammation to cause pain and atrophy and things like that. That?s the thing that makes me the most nervous.?

Lutter has by no means thrown in the towel yet. He?s aiming to take it easy, avoid surgery and allow his body to heal. Injuries of this nature however are problematic to the greatest extreme, and Lutter is not an ignorant individual; he?s a smart enough guy to know when they gig is up.

Travis Lutter last competed at Moosin: God of Arts, where he was knocked out by Rafael Natal.
